About Us

The Formula Buckeyes race team consists of students from a variety of majors including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, and Art & Technology. Through this variety of talent and dedication, we design, fabricate, and race a high performance, open wheeled race car. We compete against over 120 other colleges and universities at the Eastern (Michigan) Formula SAE competitions, as well as internationally at Formula Student Germany and Formula North in Canada.

The concept of the Formula SAE competition is to allow students to take part in vehicle research, development, and fabrication. FSAE students are highly sought after in industry as a result of their real world problem solving experience gained while on the team.

We get to drive our cars!

Everyone who puts time in on the team gets to drive 400 lbs of high performance race machine.
There is no better feeling than to be able to drive the race car that you had a hand in designing and building. With 0-60 times in the 3.2 second range, prepare to get your mind blown each and every time you squeeze into the driver’s seat.

Student Involvement

Building a high performance race car requires a lot of volunteer help from students. It doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t used CAD software or welded before. The only thing we require is a will to learn, as all team leaders are ready and willing to teach you anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to know about race car engineering.

Just as we cannot build a car without student volunteers, we also need the help of sponsors. Sponsors may donate parts, money, or provide a way of teaching students a skill, such as welding or composites lay-up. Our sponsors are largely responsible for the success of our team. We cannot do it without their valuable help.
